Which of the three "at home coffee drinkers" are you?

|by Ryde Jeavons
We are all as unique as our coffee preferences. But as time goes on, we here at CBD have noticed that there are three kinds of at home coffee drinkers that make up our customer base. You could be a combination of two, or clearly sit in one, but from our observations and chats with our awesome customers, these are the three categories that have come out. Rest assured these "types" are not scathing or demeaning, they are simply our observations. We love all three types of at home coffee drinkers, because they all want to learn and most importantly, they all love coffee
  1. Bashful beginner. You've got the passion, you've got the drive and you're working on the experience. You've been drinking coffee for yonks, mostly out at cafes with friends or a humble french press with coffee from your local cafe. But now the time has come to dive into the complex world of coffee. We welcome our bashful beginners, we hope we have some wisdom to impart upon you. We welcome questions from you guys all the time, and it's super refreshing to be able to help out those who are simply seeking a great coffee at home. You guys often start with an All Round Sampler Pack, to find what you like, and end up moving onto some more complex blends and specialised single origins.
2. Humble bragger. You are really starting to know your stuff here. You've graduated from bashful beginner into a home barista with skill. You've had a few years of experience with the world of coffee, and this experience means you rarely stop at cafes for a pick me up, simply because you can do it better. You're not super interested in top of the range gadgets but you do have a nice looking machine (and possibly an Aeropress on the side, for camping trips) that sits in pride of place in your kitchen. Friends are starting to ask you about coffee, mostly where to get good ones, and you have to bite your tongue to stop yourself from saying, "at my place!" And the truth is in the crema. You deserve bragging rights at this point, because you've put in the hard yards. You guys are awesome in helping us stretch our brains, you ask complex questions about troubleshooting espresso and the difference between a Colombian Popayan and Geisha. 3. Gadget geek. Your days as a Bashful Beginner and Humble Bragger are over. You're in deep at this point, with coffee consuming almost every waking moment and a large percentage of your disposable income. You've made it. You're officially a coffee geek. But don't worry, it's okay, because we are too. You remember fondly the simple days of french press, where a kettle didn't have a built in temperature gauge and scales where only in the bathroom. Now you've got a top of the range machine and commercial grinder with an automatic doser, precision scales, hand moulded tamper, distribution tool, a Chemex, Aeropress, Trinity One, Pourover, Mokapot, precision kettle, latteart tools, special milk frother... we could go on. Coffee is now your number 1 passion. Welcome to the club! We love you guys because we get to geek out over the viability of pre-infusion, perfecting ratios down to the milligram and many more ridiculously finite details. Which type are you? Are you a little of both? A beginner with a love of gadgets, or an intermediate level keeping things simple with a French Press. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/10322757/What-your-coffee-reveals-about-your-personality.html
